…to go to work.
We got robbed! What madness is this?
It was earlier in the week, so things were largely back to normal by the time I showed up. I guess these things come in threes (Fire, Earth quake, robbery), so hopefully things will be nice and quiet from now on.
Wednesday 2nd February
…to get a letter from the Uni.
It would seems that the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences has resolved that Emma be approved as a candidate for the Graduate Diploma in Arts etc.
The paper even came with coloured letterhead.
So I guess that’s that. I just have to pay and everything can go ahead. It’s been annoying jumping through all of these hoops,...

Monday 31st January
…to crunch some numbers.
Turns out if I want to pay for Uni, I won’t be able to spend any money ever again.
Or at least until after the fees are due.
I sense an extremely dull few weeks ahead.
Sunday 30th February
…to call my friend Melissa.
Shamefully, I haven’t talked to her properly since visiting Auckland in October. Her and Adam had just gotten back from their summer road trip. Sounds like they had a great time, in spite of getting cornered by some flooding and other crazy meteorological events.

…to work.
Today I built a bird bath. Have you ever been paid to build a bird bath?
Also, there was a dude in the skip when I went to take the rubbish out. He was wearing a bicycle helmet. I think this is probably some sort of omen. What else could it be?
Thursday 27th January
…to work.
Absolutely nothing worth relaying happened. *Sigh*. How is it possible to spend eight hours of your life doing something and not have anything at all happen?
Wednesday 26th January
…to start reading “Homecoming” by Bernhard Schlink
I’m not sure what I think thus far. The cover recommends it for book groups… this doesn’t usually bode well.
I’m having a bad run with books lately, would anyone care to recommend something decent for me to read?

Sunday 23rd January
…to read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
It only took me a couple of hours and I found it to be a neat little read. I was expecting something incredible after the blurb on the cover proclaimed this book to be the next “Little Prince”.
However, I wasn’t so sure about the fake-fable-esk style of prose. I found that it served to distance the...
Saturday 22nd January
…to get $1 closer to paying my uni fees!
I helped a guy pick out a nice gift today and he gave me a $1 tip. My lovely Manageress let me keep it too.
Score!
Friday 21st January
…to take the day off work to work.
The Samba band had a gig at the opening ceremony of the 2011 Paralympic games that are being hosted in Christchurch. We cruised around playing while the teams got organised for the march down to the square, where the P.M. and other notaries were waiting to give speeches and such.
We had a lot of photos with the Olympiads and lots of...
Thursday 20th January
…to get the unfun kind of mail.
A bill. From the Uni. $4781.00 for the pleasure of studying with/at them this year. I know that this amount is peanuts compared to some places in the world, but somehow that doesn’t make it sting any less.
Oh well, goodbye hard earned cash! Hello, poverty stricken student lifestyle!
